Regular fire drills take place to familiarise all staff and children with the evacuation procedure. Apples and Pears meets all requirements of the Cheshire Fire Safety Department.
Staff
Children are supervised at the correct adult-to-child ratios at all times. All staff are checked and cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau before being appointed. Only fully qualified experienced permanent staff are allowed to run each room. Photographs of all staff are clearly displayed.
We have an ongoing training and development programme to maintain high standards of care.
Security
Security starts at the front door. Our biometric door entry system (pic right) will only open for those who are known to us. We don't totally rely on this however, there is always a member of staff on hand.
Children are not allowed to leave the nursery with anyone unknown to nursery staff unless previously arranged and documented by the parent and guardian. We would also require you to introduce them to us or supply a photograph at the very least. This authorised person must be over 18 years of age.
Children will not be released to anyone who is in our opinion in an unfit state and who appears to be incapable of looking after the child. For example intoxicated in any way. In this instance one of the alternative contacts on the initial registration form will be contacted. Should these be unavailable or incapable, then it may be necessary to contact the police.
No unauthorised visitors are allowed on the premises.
Health and safety
No smoking is allowed in the premises or grounds.
All toys and equipment for the Nursery have been selected in compliance with British Standards and are regularly cleaned and checked by the staff.
High standards of hygiene are found all around the nursery, with particular attention to the kitchen, toilets and baby changing area's.
